Most Influential Blogger Award

most-influential-blogger-e1364230844577Thank you Shaun at Praying for One Day for nominating me for the Most Influential Blogger Award. You’re such a sweetheart. I don’t know if I’m much of an influence since I started writing fiction, but thank you again. You’re a doll.

1-Display the award logo on your blog.

2-Link back to the person who nominated you.

3-Answer 7 questions.

4-Nominate ( no limit of nominations ) other bloggers for this award and link back to them.

5-Notify those bloggers of the award requirements.

The 7 Questions (Can you all please answer the same questions) Thanks

1-If you could create your planet what would it look like? – It’d be a beach, honey. With no war. Peaceful. Lots of books. Endless supplies of paper, pencils, pens, and story ideas.

2-If you could visit one nation you have never visited before, what nation would that be?- The UK. I feel a strong pull to London. I don’t know if it’s because I’m totally in love with Robert Pattinson or not. Maybe it’s because I love a good British accent, and a strong cup of tea.

3-Have you ever taken a long distance train trip? – I think so. I traveled from Windsor to Toronto to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theater. One of my most memorable trips ever.

4-What is something you would collectively change about humanity? – Thieves and liars. Basically the entire Republican Party. Politics suck!

5-What is your favorite song? Of all time, Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel. Right now, I Will Wait for You by Mumford and Sons. Anything by Florence + The Machine.

6-If you could meet one person who is still alive who would you choose to meet? – Florence Welch from Florence + The Machine. She has been my muse on more than one occasion.

7-If you could choose one symbol to represent you, what would that symbol be and why? –  Marilyn, of course, because her heart beats in my chest. She and I would have been quite a force to be reckoned with. (She was more than a sex symbol. More than an icon. She was so human. So real, she couldn’t live with herself. All she wanted was love and adoration.)

I now nominate some bloggers, the limit can be 1 or 100, your choice.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award-Why I Write

Don’t ask for whom the bells tolls. It tolls for thee.-Ernest Hemingway

Thank you so much Ajaytao 2010  for nominating me for this award. He has given me so many awards in the last couple of months. It disheartens me that though I’ve accepted them, I haven’t acknowledged the fact on my page. It seems that I’ve forgotten why I write. And essentially whom I write for. I write for me. It’s as simple as that, really. I won’t ever forget again.

I love words, no matter how simple. They make my heart sing, or break. I’m a sap. I make no apologies for it though. Give me a photo and I’ll weave a story. Give me a word and I’ll weave a story. Give me a song. A subject. Even a sad friend needing to purge their soul. I don’t know where the words come from. Well, I sort of do. A thesaurus or dictionary. I’m not afraid to say my vocabulary is limited. Anybody know of a writer’s group in the Ann Arbor area? I need some help. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Here are the rules:

1. Display the award logo on your blog (top).
2. Link back to the person who nominated you (below logo)
3. State 7 things about yourself (below terms).
4. Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link to them (below 7 things).
5. Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.

Seven things about me:

I’m a mouthy little shit.

I hate my body.

I would rather party in a pole barn than anywhere else.

I love with every damn bit of my heart.

I see the best in people. Often, that bites me right in my ass!

I am a very happy person, but cry easily.

I have a great penchant for love, but do NOT fuck with me. If you hurt me, we are DONE.

My nominees are:

Tales of a Charm City Chick

The Chowderhead

Christopher De Voss

Cristi Moise

Paula Acton

Benjamin Prewitt

A Beautiful Blogger Award for Me? Why Thank You.

I was nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award by a sweet man named Benjamin at Expressions of My Life-An Evolution of Art. He and I have become fast friends over the gorgeous artwork, words, photos, and music that he posts. He makes the nicest comments on my silly posts and stories. He wows me with his work and I adore his candidness. I like a person that’s not afraid to say what they feel and feel what they say. I think I kinda do that myself.

Now, seven random bits about me:

1. I’m better friends with men than I am with women.
2. I love easily, but I’m very selfish.
3. I’d never written anything until January 4, 2012. I hated English when I was a kid. Hated school. ADHD.
4. I used to be morbidly obese.
5. I love pin up girls and I love wearing pin up style clothing.
6. My idol is Marilyn Monroe. I do believe her heart beats in my chest. I do.
7. If I could I’d have a 1/2 sleeve tattoo on the upper part of both arms. One of Jack Skellington on my left calf and Marilyn on the right thigh.

*Bonus (because I like to talk about myself): I’ve had the pleasure of being friends with some beautiful gothic princesses. I would give anything to be a tatted up goth. Every damn day for the rest of my life. It has less to do with being emo and the music. And more to do with an attitude and clothing.  Give me a tatted up pompadoured prince, or a tatted up Bettie Page look alike and I’m in Heaven. Giggle.

Next I nominate 7 others. My tastes are eclectic to say the least. Who knows what I’ll come up with. 🙂 Please check my fellow bloggers out. They deserve a follow or two. By the way, I have many favorites, but my absolute most favoritest ever is t from As Long as I’m Singing. Follow him. I swear you will not be sorry. His journal entries and fictional stories will move you like no other writer will. I know he’s going to kick my ass for the nomination and talking him up so much, but he should know by now I do whatever in the hell I want. Hahahahahahaha! Seriously, go follow him now.

As Long as I’m Singing

Palestine Rose

Edward Hotspur

Toe Mail

A Sexual Being

The Other Side of Ugly

Hasty Words

*Bonus nomination (because I do what I want!): BoomieBol

I could tell you why I nominated these fine bloggers but what’s the fun in that go see what their doing and give them so WP hugs!!!
Thank you and good night!! Ah hell, who am I kidding. I’ll be up half the fucking night writing and reading. (See Benjamin, I told you I’d say fuck at least once. Oops, I just said it twice. Giggle, snort!

Sparkly Girl

2012 Blog of the Year, Er, How the Hell Did This Happen???

Blog of the Year Award 2 star jpeg

I try my best to throw myself into my writing on the days when I hurt. It seems my best work comes from those days when it rains in my heart.-Me

Thank you so, so much to Moonbeam McQueen and Cristi Moise for their nominations. Love, hugs and kisses to both of you. I thank you for your support. I fucking love you all so damn much!!!

It’s been almost a year since I started this silly blog of mine. It has evolved. I have too.  I’m not even sure who I am anymore. I like this new person I’ve become though. I do. I’m proud of the words that I write. The goofy and sometimes profound things I say. The music, the madness, the dirty stories, and the friends I’ve made. This is quite a community. I’m so pleased to be a part of it. I love to write. Everything. Everything. Everything. This is my calling.

I have been nominated for over 20 awards this year. Over 20! Five just last week. I need a trophy case! Growing up, I was the girl that was always picked last for sports and I never won anything. I was the weird girl. The drama girl. The musician. The loud girl that was looking for attention and someone to love me. I had huge boobs too. That’s about all I had going for me. Fortunately I married a wonderful man. Had great children. Made a good life. There was sadness and depression in this life too. Addiction.

That’s how all of this started. I was transforming; evolving. I was losing 150 lbs and re-discovering myself. As a woman. Not just a wife and mother. But a woman. I was learning that I was viable and vibrant. Beautiful. I shared my story and found that it was the story of so many others. We’re all going through our own lives of quiet desperation. I’m not trying to sound arrogant when I say I’m beautiful. I never thought I was. I still struggle with it. I totally get it when P!nk sings, Don’t Let Me Get Me. I’m prone to self-destruction. Madness even. Here, in this sphere though, I feel safe. Normal. It is my haven.

Everyday I fight a war against the mirror
Can’t take the person staring back at me

I’m a hazard to myself
Don’t let me get me
I’m my own worst enemy
It’s bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don’t want to be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

Paula Acton: Because she is brilliant and British. I love her writing. Plus she wears her hair in a Pixie, just like me.

The Reclining Gentleman: I just know he’s young, dashing and handsome. He makes me kinda tingly with his writing.

You Jivin’ Me Turkey: I followed this guy because he’s a quotes whore and so am I. I have found him to be so much more though. He’s a charmer and a sweet, sweet man. I long to share a cozy couch, 80’s movies and popcorn with him.

The “Look” Challenge

Thank you to my dear follower The Reclining Gentleman for including me in this challenge. I am writing a book. Don’t have much done yet. But I bang away at it a little each day. I didn’t know if I would find the word “look” in the manuscript, but I did quite a few times. I’ve included two paragraphs. They’re rough. I’m sure I’ll re-write them a few more times.

The “Look” Challenge is for bloggers who are also writers. It is a way to let others sneak a peek at your work. Here’s how it works. You search your manuscript for the word “look” and copy the surrounding paragraphs into a post to let other bloggers read. Then you tag five blogger/writers to invite them to the challenge.

So here are two paragraphs that I will share.

Ian struggles to speak. He pleads, “Maggie please, stay.”

But Maggie is stubborn and she has made up her mind. He’s finally at a loss for words. He can’t make her stay. He looks into her green eyes and sees everything. All the pain he’s caused and all the sadness. Everything she has had to endure to love him. Ian can see all the way into her soul and knows that he has to let her go. He releases her hand. She turns and walks away. Maggie tries with all of her might not to turn around and go running back into his arms. To the familiarity of him. She heads down the concourse of the airport. Eager to get on the plane that will take her home. Or what used to be home. She always thought he would be her home.

Maggie chuckles to herself and heads out of the terminal to find a restroom. She checks her watch and realizes that she has plenty of time to make her meeting. She freshens up, and repairs her makeup. She only wears eyeliner, mascara and lips stain. The darkest red stain of course. She wants to look half way decent to meet the woman that got to marry Ian. To live with him. To love him. She looks in the mirror and thinks to herself, she doesn’t look too bad for a 42 year old woman. She can still turn a few heads with her red hair, green eyes and statuesque body. Her silly freckles across her nose. She checks her watch again. Decides it’s time to find a cab and head to her hotel.

OK, tagging 5 other bloggers. I’d be fascinated to have a sneaky look over the shoulders of these while they write:

The Inspiring Blog Award, THANK YOU David!

I’m keeping David’s picture in this post because it is so damn beautiful. I love city life, I really do. The noise, the chaos, the cars and the people out at all hours of the night. The night life is the best in a city. There is ALWAYS something to do. Then you see the first light of day coming up through the high rises. The chaos slows. Then you feel the warmth and promise of a new day. And of course you get your first coffee at Starbucks and all is right with the world. Thank you David Kanigan for the nomination. I know I’m silly, but I tell you every time I get a nomination it makes me giddy. Makes me feel like my words matter, to at least one person. That’s an incredible feeling. It is.

Oh and I LOVED what David said about my blog when he was accepting his nomination, strap in for the ride. (Giggle, snort!)

Just the seven facts, ma’am:

1. I’m extremely impulsive. I’m working on controlling this issue, but you know, I’m impulsive!

2. I’m a HUGE quotes whore. HUGE. Here’s one of my favorites: (“You know, I’m not like a car that you can fix up. I’m never going to run right.” – Bella Swan, New Moon)

3. Love to read. Hate the Kindle. Would rather stand in an old book store all day long and find books to read. I have shelves full of books at home. They’re double stacked. The damn shelves bow they’re so weighed down.

4. Love to swim but fear deep water. The only time I’ve never been afraid was in the Caribbean Sea. I even snorkeled.  Since I could see to the bottom, I had no fear.

5. Want to write a book. Have a chapter finished and the ending. I read the ending a couple of weeks ago and cried. Told Roger Darling it was time to get cracking on it again.

6. My daughter Meggie is getting married to her fiance Chris in 75 days. On a beach in Key West. It’s what she’s always wanted. I want to jump in the ocean after the ceremony but don’t want to ruin my dress for the dinner party that night.

7. I’m really a 24 year old Goth girl. Not a 44 year old Cougar. Shhhhhhh. Don’t tell anyone.

And one more thing. I believe in speaking my mind and telling the truth. Some people don’t like that about me. Some people love it. I hope you love it and stay awhile. There are more rants and short stories to come I’m sure. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with injuries to my body, mind, heart and spirit. I’m resilient though, and the stories will come again. Please do check out the blogs I’ve nominated. They fucking rock! You all know I HAD to say fuck at least once!!!! Oops I said it twice. 🙂

  • (I love the photography, the stories that coincide with them and the photos of a young Paul Newman. Sigh.)
  • (I don’t know why, but I love sci-fi and all that good junk. Matt writes so well on the genre. )
  • (I know she’s been nominated before, but I just love her to pieces)
  • (David’s work is exemplary. Photography is beautiful and his words make me all twitterpated.)
  • (What can I say about t? Except he is me, but a boy I think. Hmmmm, I’m not sure. I sure do love his words though) (Oh yeah, and I’m a total music whore and he posts the best damn music that this former 80’s wild child loves!)
  • (Love this woman!)
  • (I can’t say enough about this sweet woman. Her words are beautiful. She makes me feel like a star. She’s my Punkin and I’m her MM)
  • (Bradley inspires me every day when he writes. Whether it’s a post of a famous quote or the telling of a sleepless night, his words move me.)
  • (Michelle moves me with her words, but also with her want to live life. She is dealing with chronic illness, and gets her ass out of bed every day. She finds ways to enjoy life and find comfort. I so admire her for that.)

If you choose to accept the award (absolutely no obligation – just consider this as a thank you for your inspiring posts), the rules are: (1) Link back to the person who nominated you, (2) Post the award image to your page.  (3) Tell seven facts about yourself (4) Nominate 5-10 other blogs, (5) Let them know they are nominated. Congratulations!

Have a great Hump Day… I do plan on doing just that when I get home!!!

The Booker Award

The Booker Award Nomination

I feel like such a shit because it took me so damn long to acknowledge Magnolia Beginnings for this lovely nomination. It wasn’t hard for me to come up with five favorite books. I’m kind of a book whore. It was extremely hard to whittle it down to only 5 but here it goes.

Along with being nominated, the nominee is to list their top 5 favorite books.  I hate to play favorites, but I think I can manage to list 5 books that have had a significant impact on me.

  1. The Time Machine by H.G. Wells : This is probably the first book that got me interested in the post-apocalyptic genre. There was something so intriguing to me about the world coming to an end and then being re-invented. The protagonist must then travel back in time to try and save the future. What a great read.
  2. The Stand: Unabdridged by Stephen King: I read this book every damn summer. It goes with me to the beach, pool or the back porch. I have read it so many times I can recite the dialogue. There is something about Larry, who is my favorite character that I can identify with. Probably because he’s all kinds of fucked up but he’s a good man at heart. Read it. You won’t be sorry.
  3. The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson: This is by far the saddest love story I have ever read. The story of a former porn star that is severely burned and then is visited by a woman that says they were lovers many lifetimes ago. For me the most heart wrenching part was the story of the young child who’s lungs are so severely burned by a reaction to a medication that  she will never recover. With all of her strength she walks to the bed of our unnamed narrator, crawls into his bed, holds his hand, prays for him and then they both fall asleep. He wakes to find that she is still holding his hand but she is no longer breathing. It took all of her strength and breath just to die in his arms.
  4. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg: Idgie Threadgood is one of my all time heroes. I love her spunk, her ability to drink, and to tell it like it is. She didn’t take shit. Even when she stood trial for murder.
  5. Rage by Richard Bachman (Stephen King): This book is no longer in print because the subject matter is all too familiar to us in these trying times. It is about a young man with a gun that holds captive a roomful of students and a teacher. King said that after Columbine, he couldn’t bring himself to re-print it. Fortunately, I have a collector’s copy. It contains three of my favorite Bachman Books. Rage, The Long Walk, and The Running Man. All three stories are kick ass!

As I said it’s hard to play favorites.  There are loads more I could list, but these I felt were the most impactful—at least at the present.

Participation in the Booker Award means adhering to the following rules:

  1. Nominate 5-10 bloggers and let your recipients know.
  2. Post The Booker Award picture.
  3. Share your top 5 books of all time.

So I’ll now include my nominees:

Congratulations to my nominees. I’ll be looking forward to reading what 5 books you post as your favorites.

Another Blog Award? Why Thank You!

Sisterhood of the World Blogger’s Award

Post image for Sisterhood of the World Blogger’s Award

I’ve been lucky enough to have been nominated for the “Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award” by regular reader and fellow blogger Maddie Cochere. I am so honored to have received this nomination from Maddie; thanks so much for including me in your list!

Now let me tell you more about the award:

Rules of the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

  • All recipients need to thank the giver
  • Post 7 things about yourself
  • Pass the award on to 7 other bloggers of their choice and let them know that they have been nominated.
  • Include the logo of the award in a post or on your blog

7 totally random things about me

1. I really want to write erotica and I’m good at it but I don’t want to do it here just in case my mother ends up liking the fact that I write and reads one of my stories. She’d be mortified. Wait, maybe I would do it just so I could mortify her. I like to keep her on her toes with my crazy antics.

2. I drink way too fucking much coffee. I have ADHD so coffee doesn’t bode well with it. I kinda bounce off the walls even more than usual. It’s kinda fun for me but it annoys the hell out of other people.

3. I’m a restless spirit. Not sure why but I never seemed settled. It’s okay though, the ones that love me totally get it and love me anyway.

4. I’m an extremely nice person. I believe in having a good heart, loving and connecting with everyone I come in contact with. But don’t you fucking dare take advantage of me. I may seem like a sweetheart but don’t fuck with me. I will get in your face and tell you off.  Then our connection will be broken. My heart will be too. So don’t hurt me.

5. My husband is a good man and puts up with my craziness. Why in the hell he does, I have no idea. 23 years and he’s still here.

6. I had lasik surgery about six years ago. It was the best money I ever spent. I have to wear readers now. Roger Darling calls them my porn star glasses. Says I look hawt in them. Giggle. Now I want a boob job! They don’t need to be bigger, just lifted.

7. I’ve lost 150 lbs in the last 20 months. It’s not easy to keep it off. But I’m trying really hard to keep it together and not eat like I used to when I weight 325 lbs. I never want go back there again. I’m 44 and darling I am fabulous. Finally!!!

But, enough about me. It’s time to introduce you to some of the most awesome ladies I know.

I’m Auditioning for Blogger Idol!

Click on the link above

Because Writers are the New Rock Stars!

Good morning my sweet readers and followers. I wanted to let you all know that I’m auditioning for a groovy thing called Blogger Idol. I’ve only been writing since January 2012, but I decided what the hell. I might as well give a shot. My readership goes up every day and so does my follower count. You all complete my sparkly ass and make me feel my words matter.  You see my passion and feed it. For that I’m so grateful. The competition will be fierce I’m sure but it can’t hurt to try. Who knows maybe I’ll make the top 12 or maybe I won’t make shit.

I was talking to Vikki (The View Outside) and commented on her entry, You Know You’re a Writer When….. I told her I knew it when:

I knew it when I could look at a photo and see a whole story unfold before my eyes. I knew it when I could see a word or hear a phrase and write a whole page about it. I knew it when I saw a couple in an SUV arguing in my rear view mirror at a toll booth and I wrote a short story about them. I knew after realizing that I thrived on every written word that I had ever read. Whether it was a book, a letter, a card or an email from a dear friend. I knew it and I know it still. I hope and I pray that the words never stop coming. It is my passion, my life, my story. I never ever want it to stop.
  • Beautiful rheath40. I wish I’ve have expressed myself this well.
  • Wow honey, I am in awe…and so very very jealous! ;)

    • No need for jealousy. We are both writers. We get better as we write. We get better as we read other writers. Isn’t this a great experience?
    • It certainly is honey! :)
I’m excited about the competition. The prizes are pretty kick ass. A Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2 7.0 Student Edition. Blog2Print so you can make a book. God wouldn’t that be awesome???? The first runner up gets chocolate, Ghirardelli no less, and Dragon Naturally Speaking. Yeah that’s just what I need voice software so I can write more. Roger Darling will divorce me for sure, because I’ll never shut up! There’s organic foods, gourmet coffee and retail therapy prizes too. Because God knows after my weight loss I’ve become a clothes and shoes whore. By the way, I got a new pin up style mini skirt yesterday that I’m in fucking love with!!!
There’s six weeks of assignments to do. I have no idea what they are yet but I’m sure it’ll entail writing. DUH! So hang in my readers, followers and friends. Vote for me please!!! Tell your friends and have them vote for me too. Even if they think I suck. Giggle. This is going to be the most  fun!
Thanks my loves, from the bottom of my sparkly girl heart!
