There is such a thing as too much looking Renee.
I guess I’m one of the lucky ones.. I found my soul mate when I was 27 ( still only young ) and we are still together now.
Some people never find theirs and spend their lives flitting from one person to another like butterflies, looking looking looking for THE one.
As for the question of the origin and continuity of souls…this isn’t a bad answer to that question. It’s certainly worth thinking about

Yes darling you are so very lucky. I’m one of those that doesn’t believe we only have one soul mate. But we do struggle with finding even one of them. It’s such a blessing when we do. Lucky for you and Ms. Seadog you did.
